Hello, Dear Reader!

Well, it's that time of year again, and you know what that means . . . Time to pop in my "Christmas in the Stars" CD (that's the Star Wars Christmas album, in case you didn't know) and crank up the volume for such great carols as "R2-D2 We Wish You a Merry Christmas" and the classic "What Can You Get a Wookiee For Christmas (When He Already Has a Comb)."

In celebration of the holidays, I really wanted to take some time to thank you for making this past year such a good one for me--you're like my extended, extra-dimensional family, and the holidays is a time for family! As a gift to you, I put together a bonus edition of Savunn's Corner (other editions are in the print copies of Fusion) just for the holidays. Hope you don't mind my goofy art!

Sorry About the Lack of Updates

Just wanted to take a few moments to apologize for the lack of updates. Turns out being a student and superhero doesn't leave a lot of time for blog updates!

Anyway, my Transcriber at Essay Bee Comics has brought a number of comments and questions to my attention from you about some aspects of the Superpowers Law (and hero Copyright issues). In truth, I'm not that familiar with all of the nuances of the Law myself, but I'll be sure to relay the questions to Captain Stupendous or Riveter next time I see them. (I'd ask Brooder, but I doubt he'd give me much of an answer.)

Also, I think it's worth mentioning that, unlike Purple Principal, Wandering Whistler didn't really get much in the way of a memorial ceremony after his murder. In large part, the lack of a service is because of the Whistler's nature (most heroes say it's only a matter of time before he shows up again), but it's still something I'd like to discuss. The Whistler has always been a bit of an enigma, and I didn't know much about him until I asked around after his death--and the story I got is REALLY cool! So cool that I have to share it with you!

But, since I'm short on time, that'll be an update for another time.

Sorry for the tease, but suffice it to say I have a lot to talk about (and what I mentioned above is just 2 of the things I wanna tell you about).

Another Murder in the Hero Community!

Thermo has struck again!

Late last night, the Wandering Whistler fell from the sky. Just like with the Purple Principal, he was found with two bullets in his head, and a few hours later a video of Thermo--where he again claimed responsibility for the murder--made its way to the news stations.

It looks like Thermo's promise of a "Hero Holocaust" wasn't just an empty threat.

I'll keep you updated as I learn more.

Day of Remebrance

Today was the day the Purple Principal was laid to rest, and I was there in the front row, right next to Captain Stupendous and Grasshopper, at the request of SAS. Apparently, the Purple Principal was a school principal by vocation and took a keen personal interest in all of us younger superheroes. According to Captain Stupendous (who personally invited both Grasshopper and me), Grasshopper and I were among the new wave of heroes that the Principal took a liking to, and SAS thought it would be appropriate to give young heroes the most prominent seats, since the Principal always sought to inspire kids and teens to make the best of themselves.

It was a nice ceremony--well, as nice as funerals go--and I got to meet a number of heroes, including Dr. Electric (with whom I only spoke briefly via communicator during my SAS interview--see Issue #2). He was there with fellow Fab Fiver, Polygraph--the other three members of the Fabulous Five were out of the country lending humanitarian aid to the worsening situation in Darmar.

Over 2,000 civilians (many of them students) were also among those assembled, and after the ceremony, many of the heroes, including myself, hung out and mingled with them--and I even gave out my first autographs!

Security was very tight, and there were heroes on almost every rooftop, hundreds of police, and constant surveillance from the SAS space station. Thankfully, there was no violence, and no sign of Thermo (the villain who murdered the Principal). Everyone tried to keep the occasion celebratory to honor the Principal's upbeat and positive attitude, but I know the promise of Thermo's "Hero Holocaust" hung over everyone's head. Almost every hero I spoke with kept an eye to the sky and was ready to jump into action at the merest hint of danger.

Saddness Turns to Outrage! (New Details About Purple Principal's Murder)

Okay. So the situation with the Purple Principal just got a lot grimmer.

Yesterday, when the story about his death was just surfacing, everything seemed to point to him being murdered. That much has been confirmed. SAS and the police have released the gruesome details of his death, and said that he was found in an alley with two bullets in his brain and his Paddle of Vengeance broken at his side.

As I said yesterday, I couldn't think of anyone who would want to hurt him, although I wondered if his run-ins and subsequent punishment of drug dealers might've caused someone to hold a grudge against him.

I was wrong.

Shortly after the details of his death were released, a video surfaced with a new supervillain calling himself Thermo taking responsibility for what he straight-up called an "assassination." Even worse, he said that this was just the first killing in what would be a "Hero Holocaust."

I don't think I like the way this week is shaping up at all!

A Day of Saddness in the Hero Community

Today's been kind of a rough day. Luckily, I got my report for English done on time, and I think I did okay on my pre-calc exam (contrary to female stereotypes, I do well in math), but tonight news broke about the death of a superhero. The Purple Principal (dubbed the Daring-Doer of Discipline) was confirmed to be dead. Neither the police nor SAS has yet released any details, but unconfirmed reports are saying it looks like murder!

The Purple Principal was a well liked hero and really didn't have any enemies in the villain community. He spent most of his time reaching out to disadvantaged kids--lecturing at inner-city schools and helping out with various community outreach programs--although he was also known to dish out some discipline with his Paddle of Vengeance--which was usually used on drug dealers.

Hmm.

Perhaps he ran afoul of some drug lord?

I'll keep you posted as I find out more details.

Fusion #2 Final Update (Pages 18-21)

Well, Dear Reader, here's the last update for Issue #2 of Fusion. Looks like things are about to kick into high gear!

Grasshopper again shows his good taste in movies by joining me in another round of movie quotations (I swear, every time we're in a SAS shuttle, we're reminded of a movie), but Brooder doesn't seem to mind as much this time--probably because he's preoccupied with the situation developing on the ground.

And how about Captain Stupendous?

Whatever's waiting for us, it must be something major to take out the Captain like that!

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this second glimpse into my life. I hope you continue to follow my adventures!

Fusion Issue #2 Update (Pages 14-17)

Things have been busy around here, what with schoolwork and crimefighting and everything. Because of that, I've been a bit slow to get this last update up.

Anyway, here's my brief SAS interview with three of my heroes (Captain Stupendous, Riveter, and that sour-puss Brooder), as well as Dr. Electric, leader of the Fabulous Five (who's chiming in via communicator). The Fab Five are not a part of SAS, although SAS does frequently consult with them (especially Dr. Electric, who's probably the most brilliant scientific minds on my world).

For those wondering what my powers are, you'll at long last get your answer, although this interview gets cut short by a crisis!

There are only another 4 pages to go in Issue #2, so you know things are about to move into high gear.

My Transcriber at Essay Bee Comics just informed me that my story is now a Featured Comic at Drunkduck.com. (That's where my Transcriber uploads my comic weekly--on Tuesdays, for those interested.)

I've also seen all the kind words that folks have been saying and am really flattered. So I'd like to give a big thanks to the people who've been following my story all along and welcome all of the new fans to my life. I really hope you all continue to enjoy my adventures! I'm back, and with another 4-page update!

These pages present me in my full geek glory! (Not sure I should be so proud of that, but that's just the way I am!) As if the Star Wars feeling of this little space trip wasn't exciting enough, I actually got to meet a number of other heroes of whom I'm a MAJOR fan!

Brooder continues to try to get under my skin and I continue to annoy him, but--just between you and me--it's pretty fun to rankle his feathers.

Fusion #2 Second Update (Pages 6-9)

Hello, Dear Reader!

Boy, have I fallen behind in my blogging. According to my Transcriber at Essay Bee Comics, it's been over two weeks since I should have posted this update for Issue #2. Sorry!

Anyway, this update will introduce you to another young hero, who, it seems, is a lot like me. We had a ball together and, I think, annoyed the Brooder more than a little bit. (And, since the Brooder will never see this, I must admit that annoying him can be pretty fun in itself!)

New Ad from My Transciber

Well, here's my first post of the new year.

Sorry it's been almost a month since my last post, but things have been pretty busy.

My Transcriber at Essay Bee Comics said that he's looking into maybe printing up some copies of my first issue--just thought I'd pass that tidbit along to you, in case there's any interest in buying a copy.

Also, the guys at Rival-comics.com were nice enough to offer to run an ad for me in the print run of their comic CAPTive. I pitched an idea to my Transcriber to do the ad as a Star Wars tribute (yeah, I know . . . me and my love of Star Wars), and he was able to put my idea together. I also got Harold to help out, although I don't think it was exactly what he had in mind. Some folks over at Outcaststudios.com also deserve a mention, since their critiques helped my Transcriber with the layout (and a few other odds and ends).

A Star Wars Rant (A Defense of Ahsoka)

I got into an argument with Harold about the Clone Wars TV show and the character of Ahsoka Tano in particular. (She's Anakin's Padawan, for those unfamiliar with the series.) Harold was saying that she's another attempt to appeal to kids and makes no sense in the continuity of the movies since she's never mentioned. Now, Harold's dislike for anything Prequel is old hat with me. He doesn't like the Prequels and I love 'em. Now I won't lie--although I really enjoy the prequels, I think they were sorely missing a brash, Han Solo character and all of the banter between heroes. Clone Wars is a return to all of that, and to the fun adventure of the original trilogy so I thought Harold would like the show too. Well, he does, for the most part. However, he's constantly bashing Ahsoka, and I've had enough.

So I'm here to set the record straight.

As I said, in tone and banter, Clone Wars is a return to the original trilogy--and Ahsoka is a big part of that. The friendly banter is there between Obi-Wan and Anakin, but Ahsoka's hard-headed nature and the way she constantly challenges Anakin is a lot of fun to watch. Plus it's important for Anakin, since he's basically forced to look into a mirror every time she mouths off, since she's so much like him. Also, I think her fate may very well play a part in Anakin's downfall. Last episode already had him going Vader on a prisoner when he knew Ahsoka was in trouble, and Yoda has expressed concern about Anakin being able to let go of Ahsoka from day 1 (The Clone Wars movie).

And just because she's not mentioned in Episode III doesn't make her a flaw in continuity. There are 3 things that I can think of off-hand that would make sense.

1) She died during the Clone Wars (before Episode III). Perhaps she was a Jedi or, hopefully, still Anakin's Padawan, and that led to Anakin doing some awful, un-Jedi things. This would lead to Anakin having to cover up what he did, and thus not wanting to talk about Ahsoka again, or to the Jedi knowing what he did and either turning a blind eye to it or reprimanding Anakin and agreeing never to speak of it again.

2) She's killed during Order 66's execution. Anakin probably wouldn't have time to think about what happened to her during the time frame of Episode III, and that conversation between him and the Emperor would be for another time. If Ahsoka made it to full Jedi Knight before Episode III, she would be on her own missions and Anakin would probably have no idea where she was or what she was doing at the time of Order 66. Maybe a Special Edition of Episode III would contain a clip of her death during the Order 66 montage.

3) What number 2 said, only she survives Order 66 and goes into hiding. If the live-action TV series is gonna fill in between Episodes III and IV and will feature the Empire and bounty hunters hunting down the last of the Jedi, how awesome would it be to have Vader sent out to hunt down Ahsoka? If that were to happen, I'd hope that some of Anakin would shine through and he'd allow her to escape in secret, but I guess it'd be more poignant to have Vader kill his old Padawan. (Or it'd be really cool to have Ahsoka die to save Vader, even after he tried to kill her--maybe have the Emperor electrocute her like Luke in Jedi. That'd be some good food-for-thought for the Dark Lord.)

Either way, these are 3 ways that Ahsoka could easily fit into continuity (and I'm sure other writers could come up with a dozen more), but to say she's a kick in the balls to continuity is a statement that lacks sense or imagination.

That said (and on an unrelated note), Ahsoka's name reminds me of the movie "The Private Eyes" with Don Knotts and Tim Conway. There's a part where Inspector Winship (Knotts) and Dr. Tart (Conway) are interviewing the Japanese cook at a large estate where the owner has been murdered. The cook, in stereotypical Asian speak (and--believe me--being Cambodian, I've heard my share of stereotypical Asian speak), starts out by saying, "Ah, so!" to which Inspector Winship says, "Whatchu call me?" Ahhh! I love that movie!

My Transcriber at Essay Bee Comics just informed me that there's a blog from Rival Comics that gave my story a rather glowing review! (Read the review at http://www.rival-comics.socialgo.com/members/profile/1/blog-view/blog_12.htm.)

I checked out the Rival Comics website (http://rival-comics.com/), and they have some cool comics there of their own. I don't know if the comics they publish are a glimpse into another dimension (separate from yours and mine), so I asked Bob. Unfortunately, he said it would be a breach of his ethical code to let me (or anyone) know for sure, so I guess it'll have to remain a mystery. Be sure to check out the site and read the comics there, but keep in mind that CAPTive is a bit mature (some language and blood).

Hello, Dear Reader!

Sorry I've been out of touch for so long. The holidays always keep me pretty busy, both with family, school (lots of projects to finish before winter break), and crime fighting (there's a spike in petty crimes and thefts this time of year). All of that has kept me from posting here as much as I'd like . . . and I feel absolutely awful that I missed sending a Thanksgiving message. Sorry! For what it's worth, Happy Belated Thanksgiving!

Anyway, my Transcriber at Essay Bee Comics has readied the first 5-page update of Fusion #2, which I'm posting presently. He told me this second issue will be 20 pages long, so expect three more updates before this issue's finished (hopefully by February, or else my Transcriber will be pretty embarrassed, since he dated the issue Feb 2010 on the cover).

Anyway, this post will contain the cover and first two pages; next post will contain pages 3-5 (and will be up within minutes of this post).

Since the first issue is now finished, my Transcriber uploaded a cbr file of it, which you can download from here:

For those not familiar with cbr (which stands for "Comic Book Reader") files, they're basically Winrar files that can be read by a cbr viewer, which allows you to use the Page Up/Page Down keys to cycle through the pages among a number of other features that makes it read more like a digital book. You can do a web search for "cbr reader" or "cbr viewer" and find a number of viewers that you can download for free.

Or, if you don't wanna do that, you can always open the cbr file with Winrar (or rename the cbr extension to rar) and extract the jpeg files to view individually.

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed the first issue. And from what my Transcriber has said, he hopes to have the first update of Issue #2 up by the beginning of December.

I just talked with my Transcriber, and he told me that he hopes to have the last pages of issue #1 finished and posted by Halloween (just making the October deadline, since he labeled issue #1 as an October issue--lucky him). I have to admit that I'm a bit embarrassed by the way the issue ended, but I hope that you'll stick around for issue #2 (of which, there'll be a 1-page preview at the end of issue #1).

Well, gotta go! There's news of a robbery on the news and I gotta get a move on if I'm gonna stop those crooks!

It's something he wrote years and years ago to share with his friends for Halloween, and figured some of you might get a kick out of it. First Look at My Life (First 4 pages plus Cover)

All right, Dear Reader.

Here's what you probably came here for in the first place--the reality show of my life, as seen through the pages of the comic "Fusion."

Although this may seem to be a simple web comic, it's actually much more (as you'll understand by page 2). To be more precise, these pages are actually a window into another dimension--a transdimensional viewport if you will.

Anyway, I'll let my life story speak for itself, as laid out by my Transcriber at Essay Bee Comics, that is. Basically, my Transcriber serves as an editor, snipping out all the extraneous parts of my life to streamline it into a format that can fit in 20 pages (much like the editors of Reality TV shows cut all the filmed footage down to fit a 30- or 60-minute TV show). I still wish he would be a bit more liberal with his cuts--I sound like I blabber too much (although Bob says that my depiction is overly kind in that department).

Well, enough of the chatter. Here's the first update my Transcriber posted.

Hello, Dear Reader!

Where to begin?

Well, for those who don't know me, I'm Savunn Adams. I was born in Cambodia, but lost my family when I was very young. Fortunately, I was adopted and brought to the States when I was a mere 2-year-old by two wonderful people whom I'm proud to call my parents. All pretty mundane stuff.

However, less mundane is the fact that I am also perhaps better known (at least locally) as the city's newest superhero, Fusion!

So why blow my secret identity here?

Well, the main reason is because anyone reading this lives in a different dimension from me. That's right--I'm writing this blog from another dimension, a parallel universe, if you will. And how do I know this? Simple. My powers (as well as the snazzy supersuit I wear) come from an interdimensional entity who, for lack of a better description, has fused himself to my soul.

Don't let the idea fool you. It's not as cool as it sounds. Imagine being an optimist and having a pessimist's thoughts wired directly into your head. That's pretty much how it is with Bob. (That's what I call the interdimensional entity who fused to me. His real name is unpronounceable--let alone spellable--in any Earth language.)

Anyway, I digress. As I was saying, if you're reading this, you live in a different dimension from me, so my secret identity is still safe. But, the cool thing is, my life can be viewed from your dimension through the pages of a comic book.

So how am I able to post a blog here as well?

Well, the interdimensional blogging and MySpacing (yeah, I have a MySpace page too--http://myspace.com/savunnadams; feel free to friend request me) is also thanks to Bob. You see, these interdimensional entities are sort of energy-based lifeforms, and they are somehow able to shift their energy through dimensional boundaries. They can also manipulate various subatomic energies (such as the electrons flowing through the internet) and make them cross dimensional boundaries as well. I have no idea how the physics of this works (and Bob says that to explain it would be to risk making my head explode), but the proof is in the blog you're reading.

I think I might be rambling a bit now, so I think I should wrap up this post. As I said earlier, in your dimension, you can see my life in the pages of a comic called, appropriately enough, "Fusion," and I'll be sure to have Bob post the pages of the comics here for you all to see. The guy transcribing my life has started Essay Bee Comics to chronicle my life, and I hope that he might stop by here from time to time. (Hi, Transcriber!) Other than that, I'll post here about some of the stuff going on in my life that may not get covered in the comics.

Well, I think that pretty much covers my introduction. Feel free to comment here--just don't get annoyed if I end up talking your ear off. (As I think I've just done in this first post alone!)
